Akshay Kumar’s film Samrat Prithviraj has turned out to be a second consecutive flop for the actor after Bachchhan Paandey. The film has managed to earn a measly total of Rs 59 crore till now at the domestic box office against its massive reported budget of Rs 200 crore. According to reports, the film’s shows in many circuits are being cancelled and flushed out due to zero occupancy to make way for more commercially viable shows of other films.

Samrat Prithviraj, written and directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, is based on the life and times of Rajput emperor Prithviraj Chauhan. It received mixed reviews from audiences and critics alike. The film witnessed a slow start on the first day, and recorded further drop ever since. As per early trade reports, Samrat Prithviraj didn’t manage to mint much money at the box office on Day 9, June 11. It’s single day earning was just Rs 2.30 crore reportedly. Hence, the total domestic box office collection would now stand at Rs 59.01 crore. Meanwhile, Samrat Prithviraj had an overall 18.76 per cent Hindi occupancy on Saturday, June 11.
Samrat Prithviraj opened in theatres on June 3 where it clashed with two hit films – Adivi Sesh’s Major and Vikram starring Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi.
