Samrat Prithviraj released in the theatres on June 3. The Akshay Kumar-starrer clocked good numbers on its first weekend.

Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar’s epic historical film Samrat Prithviraj did well at the box office on its first weekend. While the film had grossed Rs 10.70 crore on Friday, it collected Rs 12.50 crore on Saturday, taking the total to Rs 23.2 crore. According to early trade reports, Samrat Prithviraj has now clocked in Rs 16 crore on Sunday, June 5. The film saw a slightly slow start as it clashed with Kamal Haasan’s Vikram and Adivi Sesh’s Major at the box office.


Samrat Prithviraj, written and directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, is based on the life and times of Rajput emperor Prithviraj Chauhan. The film witnessed a slow start on the first day but is picking up gradually. On Day 3, it earned Rs 16 crore more than the previous day’s collection. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala announced the same on Twitter and wrote, “#SamratPrithviraj early estimates for Day 3 is 16 Crs Nett.. All-India (sic).” Hence, the total collection would now stand at Rs 39 crore approx. Meanwhile, Samrat Prithviraj had an overall 33.31 per cent Hindi occupancy on Sunday, June 5.

Akshay Kumar-starrer Samrat Prithviraj is based on the life of the fearless King Prithviraj Chauhan. The superstar will essay the role of the legendary warrior who fought courageously against Muhammad of Ghor. Manushi Chhillar plays King Prithviraj Chauhan’s beloved, Sanyogita. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood. Samrat Prithviraj released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on June 3.
