Akshay Kumar’s film Samrat Prithviraj has urned out to be a second consecutive flop for the actor after Bachchhan Paandey. It is not doing great business at the box office. Since days, Samrat Prithviraj has been languishing around the Rs 1.85 to 2-crore mark. On Day 12, June 14, the film managed to earn a measly total of Rs 64 crore at the domestic box office against its massive reported budget of Rs 200 crore. Samrat Prithviraj will almost certainly not cross the coveted Rs 100-crore mark.

Samrat Prithviraj, written and directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, is based on the life and times of Rajput emperor Prithviraj Chauhan. It received mixed reviews from audiences and critics alike. As per early trade reports, Samrat Prithviraj didn’t manage to mint much money at the box office on Day 12, June 14. It’s single day earning was just Rs 1 crore reportedly. Hence, the total domestic box office collection would now stand at Rs 64.48 crore. Meanwhile, Samrat Prithviraj had an overall 9.97 per cent Hindi occupancy on Tuesday, June 14. Trade reports suggest that Samrat Prithviraj is doing great business in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Thanks to costumes, visual effects and elaborate sets, the film was made on a budget of Rs 200 crore, but it is not even close to recovering the cost. Samrat Prithviraj opened in theatres on June 3 where it clashed with two hit films – Adivi Sesh’s Major and Vikram starring Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi. According to reports, the film’s shows in many circuits are being cancelled and flushed out due to zero occupancy to make way for more commercially viable shows of other films.
