Chaos is “a nasty word,” Chris Pine’s character says in the latest trailer for Don’t Worry Darling. It’s also how one might describe the new footage from director Olivia Wilde’s upcoming erotic thriller, which stars Florence Pugh and Harry Styles as married couple Alice and Jack. A second trailer for the film was released on Thursday and is dripping with chaotic twists and turns.

When we meet Alice and Jack it appears that they’re madly in love—both with each other and their suburban dystopia known as Victory. But not all is as it seems, and Pugh’s Alice becomes increasingly disillusioned with her surreal surroundings. She begins to ask questions of Jack and Pine’s Frank, CEO of the “experimental company town” in which they reside. “I’ve been waiting for someone like you, someone to challenge me,” Frank taunts. “Like a good girl.”

Set to star alongside Pine, Styles, and Pugh are Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, Nick Kroll, Kate Berlant, Sydney Chandler, Asif Ali, Douglas Smith, Timothy Simons, and Ari’el Stachel. Wilde also stars in her sophomore directorial effort, which is written by Booksmart screenwriter Katie Silberman and adapted from a story written alongside Shane and Carey Van Dyke. Buzz for the movie has intensified given that Wilde has been dating Styles since separating from her longtime partner Jason Sudeikis at the start of 2020.

“Life is perfect, with every resident’s needs met by the company,” the official synopsis reads. “All they ask in return is unquestioning commitment to the Victory cause. But when cracks in their idyllic life begin to appear, exposing flashes of something much more sinister lurking beneath the attractive façade, Alice can’t help questioning what they’re doing in Victory, and why. Just how much is Alice willing to lose to expose what’s really going on in paradise?”

Don’t Worry Darling will premiere at the upcoming Venice Film Festival before hitting theaters on September 23.
