The most powerful voices in Republican politics are seeking to prevent Nevada from accepting mail-in ballots received up to four business days after Election Day.
On May 3, the Republican National Committee, Donald J. Trump For President 2024 Inc., and Donald Szymanski filed a three-count complaint in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada against Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar, and other parties, seeking declaratory and injunctive relief.
The complaint identifies Mr. Szymanski as a registered Nevada voter and a resident of Clark County, Nevada.
The RNC, President Trump’s principal campaign committee, and Mr. Szymanski are seeking a judgment declaring Nevada’s mail-in voting law violates the 14th Amendment, injunctions prohibiting the state from counting ballots received after Election Day or, alternatively, postmarked after Election Day, and recovery of legal fees related to the case….

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis had sole discretion over her decision to hire Nathan Wade as a special prosecutor in her 2020 election probe, county officials revealed on May 3.
Addressing members of the Georgia Senate Special Committee on Investigations, Fulton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Robb Pitts said county staff had interpreted state law to mean that Ms. Willis did not need the commission’s approval to hire Mr. Wade.
As for the special prosecutor’s compensation, Fulton County Chief Financial Officer Sharon Whitmore advised that Ms. Willis also has the authority to decide how much contractors are paid.
Those revelations surprised the committee’s chairman, state Sen. Bill Cowsert….

President Joe Biden accused House Republicans of “siding with union-busting corporations over the needs of the workers and their unions,” as he vetoed on May 3 a resolution disapproving of a rule enacted by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
President Biden said the rule, called the Standard for Determining Joint Employer Status, would prevent companies from “evading their bargaining obligations or liability when they control a worker’s working condition.”
His veto action comes as his re-election campaign vies for and secures the endorsement of major unions, including North America’s Building Trades Unions and United Auto Workers.
The “Standard for Determining Joint Employer Status,” was finalized on Oct. 27, 2023, and the resolution providing Congressional disapproval was introduced to the House of Representatives by Rep. John James (R-Mich.) on Nov. 9, 2023….

A constitutional rights litigation firm has obtained internal emails revealing the Biden administration’s efforts to find ways around state bans on gender transition medical procedures.
In February, American First Legal (AFL) filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for its alleged refusal to comply with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) in handing over communications regarding HHS Assistant Secretary Rachel Levine and transgender clinics, according to the AFL’s press release.
In March 2023, the AFL began its investigation into the HHS by filing a FOIA request after Mr. Levine publicly stated that the federal government—including President Joe Biden—supports medical transitioning of children….

Hope Hicks, a one-time Trump administration official, told a Manhattan court on Friday that former President Donald Trump’s ex-attorney Michael Cohen attempted to “insert himself” into the campaign and confirmed a defense lawyer’s comment that he “went rogue” at certain moments.
Under cross-examination, Ms. Hicks testified that Mr. Cohen, a central figure in the case, attempted to get involved in the campaign but “wasn’t supposed to be on the campaign in any official capacity” and wasn’t involved in the campaign’s strategy. Mr. Cohen “liked to call himself a fixer, or Mr. Fix It,” Ms. Hicks said….

Federal prosecutors have charged a former government employee with submitting fake tips accusing several of his former co-workers of being involved in the unrest at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
Court records indicate Miguel Eugenio Zapata, 37, was arrested in Chantilly, Virginia, on Thursday on a charge of making false statements to law enforcement. A criminal complaint states Mr. Zapata submitted at least seven tips to the FBI’s tipline, purporting to identify government employees and contractors he claimed were involved in unlawful activities at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
The alleged false tips were submitted on Feb. 10, Feb. 16, Feb. 17, and April 11, 2021, as federal law enforcement officials began ramping up efforts to identify and arrest people who entered the capitol, and called on the general public to assist in identifying individuals in the crowd….

A consultant hired to help run independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s ballot access campaign was arrested after allegedly choking and punching a woman at a Manhattan hotel, according to the New York Police Department.
Police were called to the Soho Grand Hotel on April 27 at 5:19 a.m. after a report that Trent Pool, 37, was involved in a dispute with a 25-year-old woman, an NYPD spokesperson told The Epoch Times.
The woman told police Mr. Pool “wrapped his hand around her neck, making it hard for her to breathe, and then struck her in the face with a closed fist, causing pain.”…

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) lamented on May 3 that a vacancy were he to be stripped of the gavel, would be a “dangerous gambit” ahead of an expected vote next week on a motion to oust him from his leadership role.
