Christian singer and songwriter Amy Grant has been sent home from the hospital and has postponed her upcoming shows after she was in a bicycle accident last week.

“Earlier this week, Amy Grant was in an accident after hitting a pothole while riding her bicycle with a friend (note: she was wearing a helmet). Following a brief hospitalization where she was treated for her injuries, doctors have ordered additional recovery time at home for Amy, where she is now resting comfortably,” Grant’s team said in an Instagram post on Friday, CBN News reports.

“Due to the doctor’s orders, she has had to postpone her upcoming August concerts (Knoxville, Chattanooga, Johnson City, Wilmington),” the post continued. “The concerts have been rescheduled for April and June 2023. All tickets will be honored at the new performance dates. There are no other changes to her touring schedule at this time. Go to Amy’s website for the latest concert schedule and details.”

As Christian Headlines previously reported, Grant was taken to a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, after the accident. She was in stable condition and was treated for her injuries.

“Your kind thoughts and heartfelt prayers are felt and received. Amy was wearing her helmet, and we would remind you all to do the same!” Grant’s team said at the time.

According to Grant’s website, the six-time Grammy award winner will resume her tour on September 15 at Park Village Pines Fall Gala in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The tour will end on December 21, when she will perform at the Ryman theater in Nashville, Tennessee, with her husband, country singer Vince Gill.

Grant, who was the first Contemporary Christian Music artist to perform at the Grammys, was named a 2022 Kennedy Center Honoree last month, just before her bike accident. Other honorees are actor George Clooney, singer Gladys Knight, Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Tania León, and the Irish rock band U2.

The honorees will be recognized in a special ceremony on December 4 at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C.

Grant, whose career spans over four decades, is considered a CCM pioneer. Last year, she celebrated the 30th anniversary of her 1991 platinum album, ‘Heart in Motion’ which her hit song “Baby” brought her to further fame.

This September, Grant will celebrate the 25th anniversary of her 1997 gold-selling album, Behind the Eyes.
