Aamir Khan justifies keeping 6 month gap between Laal Singh Chaddha’s theatrical and OTT release

Laal Singh Chaddha is set to hit theatres on August 11. The Aamir Khan and Kareeena Kapoor Khan-starrer will stream on OTT six months after its OTT release. Now, the Lagaan star has explained why he does not want an early OTT release for his films. He feels the curiosity of going to theatres has been reduced due to films getting an early OTT release.

Laal Singh Chaddha will stream on OTT next year, after six months from its theatrical release. Speaking about the same, Aamir Khan said, “One of the reasons, primarily, I think the curiosity of going to theaters has reduced because films come on OTT right after they come in theaters, they come on OTT very fast. So I have always tried to keep a 6 month gap for my films. I don’t know what the industry follows, but I like to keep a 6 month gap. So that’s what I tried to do for all my films and, up till now, we have managed that.”

LAAL SINGH CHADDHA TO STREAM ON NETFLIX

Laal SIngh Chaddha will reportedly release on Netflix. According to reports, the makers have sold the film’s digital rights to Netflix for Rs 160 crore. The film was supposed to hit the screens in 2020 but that did not happen due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It is finally slated to open in theatres on August 11 alongside the Akshay Kumar-starrer Raksha Bandhan.

Laal Singh Chaddha, produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Kiran Rao, and Viacom18 Studios, also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Chaitanya Akkineni. It is an official remake of Forrest Gump. The film will be hit cinemas on August 11.
